Open Call for "Fertile Ground" Exhibition

Munich Jewellery Week 2025

at Donner Donner wie Blitz

Munich Jewellery Week is an internationally renowned event dedicated to contemporary jewellery, held annually in Munich, Germany. This week-long celebration draws artists, designers, curators, collectors, and enthusiasts from around the world to explore the cutting-edge of jewellery design. Events span the city and include exhibitions, gallery shows, and pop-up events that showcase a mix of avant-garde pieces, experimental concepts, and refined craftsmanship. Beyond just jewellery, the week delves into themes of art, identity, and cultural expression, encouraging dialogue and exchange within the creative community. Munich Jewellery Week is part of the wider Schmuck fair, and its dynamic, open-to-the-public format makes it an engaging space for professionals and the curious alike to experience contemporary jewellery’s bold and expressive potential.

With the support of Donner wie Blitz, Munich, I invite submissions for "Fertile Ground," an exhibition running throughout the month of March 2025. Coinciding with Munich Jewellery Week/Schmuck 2025, this show explores creation, nurturing, and transformation through jewellery, sculpture, body adornment, and writing. This exhibitions intention is to delve into the fertile space where ideas of motherhood, care, and creation converge, while also acknowledging the pressures and challenges that accompany these roles. Including the choice not to pursue parenthood.

I am seeking works from Artist, Makers and Writers alike who engage with the act of making, nurturing, and creating in their artistic practice. The exhibition invites reflection on how fertility, in all its forms, inspires creativity and how the act of nurturing, whether of life, ideas, or art, shapes personal and artistic expression.

Selected works will be showcased in the gallery windows and featured in a publication documenting the exhibition’s themes and findings.
